Do you need to create a map for a project proposal or a report to a funder? Or do you need to create a KML file so that you can add your project to the Share Your Project feature on this website? Watch the video below to learn how to create a simple and quick map of your project area.
Step 1 – Click the button below to open Google Earth
Step 2 – Click the “+ New” button at the top left corner of the page
Step 3 – Click “new map project”
Step 4 – Type project address into “Search Google Earth” box
Step 5 – Click the “Save to project” button under the address details, when they appear on the screen. Click Done
Step 6 – Select the “Add path or polygon” option from the toolbar
Step 7 – Zoom in on the map and draw a Polygon around the area of your project
Step 8 – Click the “Save to project” button under the address details when they appear on the screen
Step 9 – Rename the polygon; add description; click “Done” button
Step 10 – Rename the main project title at the top of the page
Step 11 – Click “File” in the menu tab
Step 12 – Select “Export as KML File”. File is saved to your computer
Step 13 – Upload the .kml file using the Share Your Project page to include your project on the NARvis projects map
