Do you need to create a map for a project proposal or a report to a donor? Or do you need to create a .kml file so that you can add your project to the Share Your Project feature on this website? Watch the video below to learn how to create a simple and quick map of your project area.
Step 1 – Click the button below to open Google Earth
Step 2 – Click the “Launch Earth” button in the top right of your browser
Step 3 – Click the Menu icon on the left and then select the “Projects” tab
Step 4 – Press the “Create” button and then select the “Create KML File” option
Step 5 – Add a descriptive title for your project
Step 6 – Press the “New Feature” button and select the “Draw line or shape” button
Step 7 – Zoom in on the map and draw a Polygon around the area of your project
Step 8 – Add a descriptive title for your project area and press “Save”
Step 9 – Click the 3 dots in the left panel and select “Export as KML File”
Step 10 – Save the KML file to you computer
